Dear Merchants,

Welcome to June! In this memo you will find info on:

  • 2  Week Look Ahead
  • Parking
  • PECO work
  • Facade Grant availability
  • Summer Events
  • Business Comings & Goings
  • Support during construction

2 Week Look Ahead: Please see linked the latest 2 week look ahead from Harkins Builders. Also linked is the contact list for One Ardmore Place should you have specific questions.

Parking: The good news is that parking is not as tight as everyone feared it would be. The Township is conducting regular counts and is finding available parking both at meters & in permit lots. The bad news is that there is still the perception that there is no parking. Please do your best to dispel that perception. Communicate positively to your customers. Display & distribute the parking maps to make folks aware of the location of parking. Let us know if you need more parking maps to distribute.

Permit Parking: The lot on the corner of Ardmore & Lancaster Aves. is now available for permit parking from 8 am to 6pm on weekdays and for public parking evenings and weekends.  If you have not yet purchased parking permits for yourself or your employees, there are still permits available.

Kiosk Lot: We understand that there are some challenges with the kiosk. Weather & lots of cell activity can interfere with its functioning. Please report any malfunctions to Tpintande@lowermerion.org or 610-645-6230. If your customers receive a ticket after you or they have reported a malfunction, Parking Services can address it.

PECO activity: PECO will be working in Downtown Ardmore throughout the summer to replace the faulty underground equipment which has been the cause of so many recent outages. Most of the work will happen in the evenings so as not to disrupt daytime commerce. PECO will be notifying you directly when work on your block is scheduled.

Facade Grants Available: We are very pleased to report that we have received a $50,000 grant from Pa Department of Community & Economic Development for our facade improvement program.

If you are interested in applying, please read the guidelines and make an appointment to meet with our staff. Contact us at 610645-0540 or Marie@ardmoreinitiative.org.

Support for the businesses: Since the close of the Cricket Lot I have been checking in with businesses and getting mixed reports- some of you are reporting business as usual with no decrease in sales while others of you are seeing a drop in sales. We are taking the following steps to help you through this time:

Downtown Dollars: We have selected a supplier for the Downtown Dollars program and expect to rollout the first round of Downtown Dollars later this summer

PR & Marketing: We have hired Aversa PR to help place and keep Ardmore in the public eye. If you have a story idea about your business, a new event, or something newsworthy, please reach out to Kory at kory@aversapr.com or 215-840-9216.  Connect with him in our private Facebook group, Ardmore Business District. If you need another email invitation to the group, email marie@ardmoreinitiative.org.

We will be running slides at the Bryn Mawr Film Institute, doing ads in Town Dish & Main Line Today and rolling out “We are Destination Ardmore” posters, and producing a series of videos on Ardmore events  businesses.

Micro-grants: we recognize that businesses have specific circumstances and different needs and that  there is no “one size fits all” solution. We have created a committee comprised of fellow business owners to evaluate specific requests for assistance from an individual business. Please contact Christine@ardmoreinitiative.org  for more info on this program.
