Ardmore Initiative Awarded Keystone Communities Grant

Welcome to Ardmore
Governor Tom Wolf recently announced that the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) awarded The Ardmore Initiative a $50,000 Keystone Communities grant to support Downtown Ardmore commercial enhancement through façade improvements.

“The Ardmore Initiative is very pleased to receive this grant from DCED so that we can continue to assist business and property owners to improve their facades, and thereby create a more vibrant and welcoming downtown,” said Christine Vilardo, Executive Director of the Ardmore Initiative. “This grant allows us to partner with local businesses during the planning and design process to ensure an attractive and cohesive streetscape.”

The Keystone Communities program was created in 2011 to assist commonwealth communities in achieving redevelopment. The program supports physical improvements to both designated and other communities that are undertaking revitalization to restore deteriorated downtowns, residential neighborhoods and industrial/manufacturing sites.  Specifically, The Ardmore Initiative will utilize the funding to continue and enhance an existing façade improvement program in the downtown district.

“We expect to help complete more than 10 façade improvement projects this year, including exterior painting, replacement of doors and windows, new lighting, signage and awnings,” Vilardo said.  “These improvements create an attractive and vibrant downtown district that we are all proud to that support.”
