Lower Merion welcomes its premier tattoo parlor and art gallery, in the heart of downtown Ardmore.

Black Moth is a new fusion of custom body art and curated exhibitions in a way that strives for the highest quality. Owner Steve Martin encourages art enthusiasts and collectors in the area to visit the Lancaster Avenue location and take in a new space steeped in creativity.

As the owner, practitioner, and curator of the space, Martin bring 7 years of professional tattooing and more than twice that much experience exhibiting in and organizing art shows to the town. After years of patient planning and tenaciously working in other studios locally, across North America and in Western Europe, he brings his vision to light in 2017. From the day Martin started training he intended to coalesce his two primary passions and crafts together, developing a personalized presentation open to the public. Martin’s life experiences have brought him opportunities to travel far and wide, to work with many creative and business savvy minds, to curate shows for galleries as well as be a participant in hundreds of professional exhibitions. It all helped to hone in on what he believes is the best product for collectors.

“I look forward to bringing to the local art enthusiasts and collectors a select presentation of custom tattoo designs as well as some of the finest visual works of art month after month.” Already by the volume of traffic emailing, calling, and walking through the door it is clear that the surrounding area has been waiting for something more unique and creative to open close by. Martin has a tremendous collection of classic designs from the industry’s pioneers as well as the finest modern flash paintings to select from. The studio is open 6 days a week for tattooing and for viewing the rotating gallery shows.
